Terms of Service

These terms cover the website, the tool playgrounds, and the API. Using any of them means you accept what is written here.

At a glance

Free to test, paid to automate

Every endpoint is free in the browser. Calling it from your code needs a plan.

You keep your output

Screenshots, PDFs, and scan results are yours. We claim no rights over them.

Provided as is

We work hard on uptime, but the service comes without warranties beyond your SLA.

01

The agreement

This agreement is between you and PocketUtils. It applies whether you are running a tool once in your browser or calling the API a million times a month.

If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are allowed to bind that company. If you do not accept these terms, do not use the service.

You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live. We do not knowingly provide the service to children.

02

What the service is

PocketUtils is 9 REST endpoints — screenshots, PDF rendering, SSL inspection, meta scans, uptime checks, link extraction and crawling, and XBEL conversion — plus a browser playground for each one.

Two ways to use it

The tool pages are free, need no account, and call the same production endpoints your integration would. They are subject to fair-use rate limits and a bot check.

The API requires a paid plan and an API key. There is no free API tier.

We may add, change, or retire endpoints. If we retire one you are actively calling, we give at least 90 days’ notice by email.

03

Accounts & keys

  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your email address current — it is how we reach you about billing and outages.
  • Your API keys are secrets. Anything called with your key is treated as called by you, and billed to you.
  • Do not share, resell, or embed a key in a public client such as a mobile app or front-end bundle.
  • Tell us immediately at support if you believe a key has leaked, and rotate it from your dashboard.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by people you give access to.

04

Acceptable use

The service points at other people’s websites, which makes misuse everyone else’s problem. These rules are not negotiable.

You may not
  • Break the law, or help someone else break it.
  • Target infrastructure you do not own or have permission to test — including using the crawl and uptime endpoints for load generation or denial of service.
  • Ignore robots.txt, rate limits, or an explicit request from a site owner to stop.
  • Process content that infringes copyright, or that is unlawful to handle.
  • Circumvent credit metering, rate limits, or the bot check on the tool pages.
  • Resell raw API access as if it were your own API.
  • Harvest personal data at scale, or build profiles of individuals.

We may suspend an account immediately when a breach is causing active harm, and we will tell you why.

05

Credits & billing

How credits work

  • A light call costs 1 credit. A render costs 2.
  • Failed and timed-out requests are never billed.
  • Subscriptions grant a credit balance at the start of each billing cycle. Unused subscription credits do not roll over.
  • Top-up packs stack on top of that balance, are spent only after the cycle's credits run out, and never expire while the subscription is active.

Payment

  • Plans start at $9 per month and renew monthly until cancelled. Current prices are on the pricing page.
  • Payments are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card details.
  • Cancel any time from your dashboard. Cancellation stops the next renewal; the current cycle runs to its end.
  • Prices exclude tax unless stated. Any tax due is added at checkout.
Price changes

We give at least 30 days’ notice by email before a price change affects you, and it never applies mid-cycle. If you do not want the new price, cancel before it starts.

06

Availability

We aim for continuous availability and publish a 99.9% uptime SLA on Growth and above. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where we can.

Endpoints depend on third-party websites responding. A target site being slow, blocking us, or going offline is not a service failure — but such a request fails, and a failed request costs no credits.

07

Warranties & liability

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. Beyond any SLA in your plan, we make no warranty that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including lost profits, lost revenue, or lost data. Our total liability in any 12-month period is capped at what you paid us in that period.

You keep all rights to the content you process and the output you generate. You are responsible for having the right to process what you send us, and you indemnify us against claims arising from content you processed or from your breach of the acceptable-use rules above.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

08

Termination

You can close your account at any time from your dashboard. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, that goes unpaid, or where we are required to by law.

On termination your keys stop working and unused credits are forfeited. Data is deleted per the Privacy Policy.

If we materially change these terms, we post the revised version here and email account holders before it takes effect. Questions go to support@pocketutils.com.
